As mentioned before, M and I have what we consider a pretty close to awesome "back yard habitat". M is actually thinking about signing us up on a web site for a "back yard habitat" designation. You have to meet so many criteria and such and she thinks we might be pretty close. Back to my original thought...
At twilight, I love, LOVE, LOVE to look out and hear birds, the bubbling rock, see the accent lighting throughout the garden highlighting certain features and now, the Fire Flies!
Last evening, after the kids were abed, we were watching a bit of TV but I really couldn't stop my gaze from going outside. There were lots and lots of fire flies out and the whole bundle of our back yard seemed magical and serene save for the mosquitoes which kept me from having a fire in our fire pit. I could have had a fire but the reality is that it would have been buggy... It did seem that we used to make it out there a bit more with wine and either A Prarie Home Companion on Saturday nights or a vast assortment of bluegrass and Celtic music on Sunday nights wafting from within the house out to the porch.
I really wanted to wake E up so she could enjoy the spectacle but we knew better. I hate saying things like "there will always be next year"... Maybe I will at my next opportunity, wake her so she can see it for herself. I am sure she would get great pleasure and at least a few good stories out of seeing them. I am hopeful to get a fire in our backyard. It would be helpful if we had people coming over to enjoy it with us. We'll have to wait and see about that one.

- Stretching outside my comfort zone is a part of my life. there are certain things that make me uneasy and certain things that pose problems for me as everyone does. In the last 8 years specifically, I have looked at a problem and forced myself to Stretch in order to grow. With my wife M, I feel that things are coming together. I am a 40+ and feel not at all that old unless you count the bad feet and a constant aching in my right hand. I really feel pretty good and have hopes for comfortable later years with my wife M. I grew up in Okemos, MI. and suspect shall pass as a resident in the same town. My younger years were spent most happily in Houghton Lake at my families cottage where I forged many lasting friendships. I learned alot there but after meeting M had realized there were so many things I hadn't explored and that getting out of the norm was a necessary thing to do.
